Learn to play the music you love.

Private piano lessons for beginners through advanced players — classical, jazz, and contemporary — taught in person and online. Lessons are built around your goals, your pace, and the music that made you want to sit down at the keys.

Forrest Sansing, pianist & piano teacher

About

Hi, I'm Forrest.

I've been playing piano for over twenty years and teaching for more than a decade. My students range from five-year-olds pressing their first keys to adults returning to an instrument they set aside long ago.

I trained classically but fell in love with jazz and contemporary playing along the way, and I bring all of it to the studio. My goal isn't to produce competition winners (though some students go that route) — it's to help each person become a musician who can sit down and genuinely enjoy playing.

Every lesson is one-on-one and tailored. We'll build real technique and reading skills, but we'll do it with music you actually want to play.

Lessons

Lessons for wherever you are

Every student is different, so every lesson plan is too. Here's the range of what I teach.

Beginners & Kids

First notes, reading music, and healthy technique — patient, encouraging, and paced so it never stops being fun.

Intermediate & Returning Players

Break through plateaus, sharpen technique, and expand your repertoire. Perfect for adults picking the piano back up.

Advanced & Pre-College

Repertoire building, theory, sight-reading, and performance preparation — including auditions and exams.

Jazz & Contemporary

Chords, improvisation, and playing by ear. Learn the pop, jazz, and film music you actually listen to.

Reviews

What students and parents say

Forrest is endlessly patient with our daughter and somehow makes practicing something she looks forward to. She's grown more in six months than we imagined.
Parent of a beginner student
I hadn't touched a piano since high school. Forrest met me exactly where I was and now I'm playing pieces I never thought I could.
Adult returning student
The jazz lessons completely changed how I hear music. I can finally sit down and improvise instead of just reading notes off a page.
